Midday traffic at Alajo junction in Accra came to a standstill on Friday following a fatal accident involving a truck and an unidentified man.
The incident occurred when a truck with registration number GS 4295-21 reportedly ran over the man with its left rear tyres, killing him on the spot.
Although the exact circumstances remain unclear, eyewitnesses suggested that the victim may have been riding a motorcycle and was struck while attempting to meander through traffic to overtake the truck. He was trapped beneath the vehicle and dragged along the road before it finally came to a stop.
The accident caused heavy traffic congestion stretching from the Abeka junction traffic light, past the Police Training Academy at Tesano, all the way to the Alajo junction traffic light.
Police officers arrived promptly to manage the situation, assess the scene, and arrange for the body to be conveyed to the morgue.
According to Graphic Online, when their correspondent visited the scene around 12:50 p.m. on September 26, 2025, the man’s body was still pinned under the truck as officers worked to clear the scene.
