Manchester United finally broke their long-standing Anfield curse with a dramatic 2-1 win over arch-rivals Liverpool, marking their first victory at the historic ground since 2016.

In a thrilling Premier League clash on Sunday evening, goals from new signing Bryan Mbeumo and captain Harry Maguire ensured the Red Devils walked away with all three points, despite a late scare from the hosts.

The game started with a bang, as United stunned the Anfield crowd by taking the lead just two minutes in.

Bryan Mbeumo, a summer acquisition from Brentford, latched onto a clever through ball and slotted past Alisson with composure, handing the visitors a dream start.

The remainder of the first half was a tale of missed chances for both sides.

United looked sharp on the counter while Liverpool pressed aggressively, but neither team could add to the scoreline before the break.

The Red Devils went into halftime with a slender 1-0 lead, much to the frustration of the home crowd.

Liverpool, who have been struggling with form lately, found a spark in the second half through Federico Chiesa.

The Italian winger, introduced off the bench, made an immediate impact with a dazzling run and a pinpoint cross to Cody Gakpo, who made no mistake from close range in the 78th minute.

The goal injected life into the hosts, and it seemed the momentum had shifted.

However, just six minutes later, United responded in the most emphatic fashion.

Harry Maguire rose highest to meet a corner kick and powered a header past Alisson, restoring United’s lead and silencing the Kop once more.

Liverpool came close to rescuing a point in stoppage time when Gakpo had a golden opportunity to score again, but his header went narrowly wide.

This win marks a significant moment for Manchester United under new manager Rúben Amorim.

For the first time since his appointment, United have recorded back-to-back wins, signaling a potential turnaround in what has been a turbulent season.

The result lifts United to ninth in the Premier League table and injects much-needed belief into their campaign.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have now suffered four consecutive defeats, a worrying trend ahead of their tricky Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany.

For United fans, this wasn’t just three points, it was a statement.

The Red Devils have finally conquered Anfield, and with Amorim at the helm, there may yet be brighter days ahead.
