The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has served notice of its intention to embark on industrial action over what it describes as the government’s failure to implement a unique salary structure and agreed conditions of service for its members.
In a press statement dated 19 February, the Association’s National Executive Council (NEC) expressed frustration over protracted negotiations with the government, which it said date back to 2019.
According to the statement, signed by Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe Addo, the negotiations culminated in two separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), with implementation expected to take effect from January 1, 2025.
However, the Association said subsequent reminders to the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) have not received any response.
The NEC has therefore declared its intention to embark on a nationwide strike effective March 9, 2026, if the government fails to honour its commitments under the agreement.
CLOGSAG warned that its members are being taken for granted and called for urgent steps to resolve the impasse to avert disruption to public sector services across the country.
