The Minister for Transport, Joseph Nikpe Bukari, has announced a significant improvement in the revenue performance of Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMTL) over the past eight months.
According to the Minister, the company’s monthly revenue has increased from GH¢8 million in 2024 to GH¢14 million in 2025, reflecting enhanced operational efficiency and service delivery.
Answering questions on the floor of Parliament, Mr. Bukari said the improvement has strengthened Metro Mass Transit’s financial position and boosted its credibility with suppliers.
“Last year, a monthly collection of about GH¢8 million was what they had. From January 2025 to date, we have seen improvements of about GH¢14 million. Based on that, we are able to negotiate with vendors to supply us with buses that we can now be paying for on some agreed basis,” he said.
The Minister attributed the progress to ongoing reforms within the company aimed at revitalising its operations and ensuring sustainable public transport services across the country.
The government has also announced plans to procure 500 new buses to support Metro Mass Transit’s operations as part of broader efforts to modernise Ghana’s public transportation system.
