A refuse collector in Accra, popularly known as a “Borla Borla” (wheelbarrow waste carrier), has opened up about the financial side of his job, revealing that he earns around GH₵500 every day and manages to save up to GH₵1,500 each week.
He explained that although the work is often looked down upon by society, it provides a steady and dependable source of income.
For him, the job has become a reliable way to meet his daily needs and plan for the future.
The waste collector also encouraged unemployed graduates across Ghana not to dismiss such opportunities.
According to him, engaging in practical jobs like refuse collection can sometimes offer better financial rewards than certain office roles or teaching positions in Accra, especially for those struggling to find formal employment.
