NDC never said Nana Addo was bathing in a jet,it was Nitiwul who said that-Wallas Ababio

Former Ashanti Regional NDC administrator, Wallas Ababio, nearly lost his cool during an interview on Asona FM when host Agya Yaw Obeng Preko pressed him on whether the NDC owed former President Nana Akufo-Addo an apology over the controversial “bathing in the skies” remark.

Ababio dismissed the suggestion outright. “The NDC has no reason to apologize because that statement did not come from us. It was not the NDC that said Akufo-Addo was bathing in the skies,” he said, his tone almost flaring with frustration.

He was quick to shift the responsibility back to the governing party at the time. “It was former Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul who brought this matter up. He himself told parliament that the presidential jet does not have enough space, so it was impossible for Akufo-Addo to bathe comfortably in it,” Ababio stressed.

According to him, Nitiwul’s claim was used to justify why the presidency had resorted to hiring a separate jet for Akufo-Addo’s travels. “The minister said that to rationalize the decision to hire another jet in the name of ensuring the president’s comfort,” Ababio explained.

He did not stop there, pointing to the cost implications for the nation. “That rented jet costs Ghana a shocking $17,000 every single hour. That is how the previous administration misused the presidential jet, without any consideration for the taxpayers who carried the burden,” Ababio said.

In his view, any attempt to suggest the NDC owes an apology on the matter is misplaced. “The NDC did not manufacture this claim. It was their own minister who said it. So why should we apologize?” he questioned.
