NewsKobby Blay rebukes Ralph St. Williams over Ridge Hospital incident

Ghanaian photographer Kobby Blay has sharply criticized Ralph St. Williams following his confrontation with nurses at Ridge Hospital, saying the real “emergency” is Ralph’s behaviour rather than the treatment he received.

Blay recounted what transpired when Ralph arrived at the hospital with over 20 of his supporters on motorbikes after sustaining lacerations in an accident in which he allegedly knocked down a pedestrian.

According to Blay, Ralph’s case was triaged as “green,” meaning non-life-threatening, while the man he reportedly knocked down was given a bed and stabilised for further treatment.

Blay explained that Ralph was then asked to initiate a hospital card — standard protocol for care — but instead demanded nurses abandon their duties and use his Ghana Card against hospital procedure.

“When the nurses saw the intimidating crowd and chaos, some took cover and removed their uniforms for safety.

“But one nurse, who was only washing her hands near the ER entrance, was attacked by eight of your boys,” Blay wrote. He added that the nurse sustained injuries and lost her phone and money in the assault.

Blay further alleged that Ralph personally attacked the nurse and even threatened staff, vowing to follow them home to “finish one of them.”

He noted that the hospital director offered to dress Ralph’s wound, but Ralph refused, choosing instead to escalate the confrontation.

“If your idea of seeking care is to storm an emergency ward, endanger patients, assault nurses, and turn it into a livestream drama — then perhaps the real emergency is not physical but behavioural,” Blay stated.

He also revealed that the nurse who was attacked has been working for eight months without salary, and had already closed for her shift before being instructed to assist.

Blay expressed disappointment that Ralph continues to walk free despite the severity of the incident. “Some say you are connected and nothing will happen. Your clock is ticking,” he warned.

Background

The statement follows Ralph St. Williams’ viral outburst at Ridge Hospital, where he accused health workers of negligence and a lack of urgency. In his rant, Ralph claimed nurses were watching patients “die like animals” and dismissed their explanations as excuses.

Blay’s response, however, paints a different picture — one of chaos, intimidation, and violence, with hospital staff and patients caught in the middle.
