FECAFOOT has officially terminated the contract of national team coach Marc Brys, accusing him of repeated insubordination, serious professional lapses, and actions that undermined the performance and image of the Indomitable Lions.
In its statement, the federation says the decision follows months of escalating tensions since Brys’ appointment on May 8, 2024.
According to FECAFOOT, Brys engaged in “irreverent, biased and insubordinate acts” toward the federation, its Executive Committee, and its president, creating an environment that threatened the proper functioning of the national team.
The federation listed several violations, including:
1. Ignoring work sessions convened by FECAFOOT
2. Publishing player lists and holding press conferences without authorization
3. Violating the federation’s marketing charter, putting sponsor agreements at risk
4. Sending preselection lists without specifying players’ clubs
5. Refusing to share training programs
6. Failing to submit match reports
7. Missing deadlines for final player lists
8. Working with individuals not recognized by FECAFOOT
9. Ignoring convocations for team gatherings
10. Using “subterfuge” to avoid mandatory press events
11. Diverting players and encouraging defiance toward FECAFOOT
FECAFOOT says the repeated misconduct contributed to the team’s failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
The federation concluded that Brys’ attitude had become incompatible with the expectations of the national team and that his dismissal was necessary to restore order.
