Leaders of Parliament, parliamentary service and Members of Parliament (MPs), on Friday, October 24, visited the family of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, to commiserate with them following her passing.

The delegation, led by the Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga included members from both sides of the House who expressed their condolences to the bereaved family at the late former First Lady’s residence in Accra.

The parliamentary leadership described Nana Konadu as a trailblazer and a pillar of women’s empowerment, whose impact on national development and social welfare remains unmatched.

They also praised her for her pioneering role through the 31st December Women’s Movement, which provided opportunities for women in education, entrepreneurship, and community development.

The majority Chief Whip Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, expressed his shock and that of the MPs at the passing of Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings.

The MPs signed the book of condolence opened in her honour and assured the family of Parliament’s continued support during the period of mourning.

Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra. She served as Ghana’s longest-serving First Lady, spanning both military and civilian administrations, and was celebrated for her commitment to women’s rights, child welfare, and social progress.
