The Trade and Industry Committee of Parliament has pledged to advocate for increased government support for the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS) to strengthen the Ghana Revenue Authority’s (GRA) revenue mobilisation efforts.

ICUMS serves as the central platform for customs operations, managing both import and export processes in the country. The system facilitates end-to-end clearance of goods, streamlining trade and improving efficiency at Ghana’s ports.

Speaking to journalists during a visit to the ICUMS centre, the Chairman of the Trade and Industry Committee, Alexander Roosevelt, emphasised that additional government backing could significantly increase customs revenue and enhance transparency in trade transactions.

“With adequate support, ICUMS can play a critical role in boosting Ghana’s customs revenue while ensuring transparency in all trade operations,” he said.
