The mother of embattled socialite Abu Trica has made an emotional plea to President John Dramani Mahama, begging him to intervene and stop the extradition of her son to the United States.
In a viral video captured during a solidarity walk, an elderly woman identified as Comfort Egyiri was seen pleading with the President to show mercy.
“My son Abu Trica, Frederick Kumi, any bad thing he has done, please forgive him.
He has erred, but please forgive him. You have the power in this matter,” she said tearfully.
Her desperate appeal follows a ruling by the Gbese High Court in March, which ordered that Abu Trica be handed over to US authorities over alleged fraud-related offenses.
He has been in police custody since December 11, 2025, following a joint operation involving the FBI and Ghanaian security agencies.
Abu Trica faces charges including conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering conspiracy, and forfeiture specification.
If extradited and convicted in the US, he could spend up to 20 years in prison.
The court has given him 15 days to file documents challenging the ruling. For now, his mother is holding onto one last hope: the mercy of the President.
