Interior Minister, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak has announced a full digitisation of the recruitment process for the Prisons, Immigration, Police and Fire Service.
This follows Thursday’s Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) deadly stampede at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra.
Speaking to journalists on Friday, November 14, the Minister said the new system will eliminate manual queues and replace them with a fully online application platform to prevent future tragedies.
“Our hope is to have a seamless process. Everything will be moved from paper to paperless. You can start the process and finish with your mobile phone from the comfort of your home with the code which will be published on Sunday, November 16. The process we’re developing is a robust, centralised e-recruitment portal to ensure harmonisation,” he assured.
The El-Wak incident left 28 people affected, with 12 in critical condition, five in the intensive care unit, and six confirmed dead. In a related development, five others were injured during a similar recruitment exercise in Kumasi.
Mr Muntaka Mubarak said the shift to an online-friendly, end-to-end digital system is expected to drastically reduce congestion and improve the safety and efficiency of national recruitment exercises.
