Police in the North East Region have secured the conviction of two persons for possessing restricted drugs. Police say the move reinforces their resolve to combat drug-related offences nationwide.
In a statement, the Police indicated the two were arrested with substances classified under Ghana’s narcotics laws and later arraigned before court, which handed down custodial sentences. The Service noted that the judgment reflects the state’s determination to clamp down on the trafficking and abuse of restricted drugs.
The Police described the convictions as part of ongoing nationwide operations to rid communities of drug-related crime, while assuring the public of continued collaboration with state agencies and local communities, urging citizens to support the fight by volunteering timely information.
The Service also reminded the public that the possession, distribution, or use of restricted drugs remains a criminal offence under Ghanaian law, warning that offenders will be prosecuted.
