Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to combating corruption in the country.
She made the remarks while addressing the 93rd Jalsa Salana of the National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission on Wednesday, January 8, at Gomoa Pomadze in the Central Region.
“A nation is strengthened by moral courage and ethical consistency. As citizens, we serve our country when we stand for what is right, speak against injustice and uphold values in both public and private lives,” she said.
Vice President Opoku-Agyemang emphasised that the government has taken measures to enhance the effectiveness and coordination of key institutions, including the Attorney-General’s office, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), and the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
“It is within this moral framework that the government must also act. Therefore, our administration has taken steps to strengthen the effectiveness and coordination of the Attorney-General, EOCO, OSP, and other institutions.
“Our commitment to justice and transparency remains steadfast. We have actively implemented and strengthened a code of conduct for all political appointees and public officials. And I urge all of us to abide by it for the good of our country, for the good of our citizens.”
She further stressed that those entrusted with public office must uphold integrity, discipline, and accountability, and serve the nation above personal interests.
“Those entrusted with public office must practice integrity, discipline and accountability and serve above personal interest,” she said.
