Honourable James Gyakye Quayson serves as Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, where he advances President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of a principled and people-centred foreign policy. His leadership strengthens Ghana’s influence on the global stage while ensuring that diplomacy delivers real benefits for citizens and businesses.
A graduate of Mfantsipim School, Cape Coast, Ghana and York University, Toronto, Ontario Canada Hon. Quayson built a distinguished career in Canada’s social services and Community development sector before returning to Ghana to serve his people. Elected as Member of Parliament for Assin North on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress, most recently reaffirmed in 2024, he has served on key parliamentary committees, including, Local Government, Economy and Development and Security & Intelligence.
As Deputy Minister, his priorities include deepening diaspora engagement, advancing economic diplomacy, reinforcing Ghana’s leadership within ECOWAS and the African Union, and enhancing consular services. Guided by a Pan-African vision, the Honourable Quayson is committed to promoting democratic governance, inclusive development, and upholding Ghana’s proud legacy of peace, solidarity, and progress.
