A delegation from the palace of the Sumankwahene has been performing traditional rituals to prevent rainfall from disrupting the historic four-day funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, at the Manhyia Palace.

Eyewitnesses and our news team at the funeral grounds confirmed that the palace envoys positioned themselves at various locations where rain clouds threatened the ceremonies, chanting incantations and utilizing ritual objects in spiritual appeals for clear skies.

The delegates moved throughout the area performing the protective rites, attracting significant attention from attendees gathered to witness the unique traditional intervention. Such rituals are considered essential during major state funerals where sudden rainfall could obstruct the elaborate and sacred proceedings.

Sources close to the Sumankwahene’s team indicated that these spiritual safeguards are a traditional necessity to guarantee the successful and uninterrupted performance of the funeral activities for the revered Asante Queen Mother.

The ceremonies continue under watchful skies as traditional authorities employ both spiritual and practical measures to honor the late Asantehemaa with the dignity and solemnity required by custom.
