Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Office of the President, Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), says recent reports of robbery incidents and a rise in HIV/AIDS cases should not discourage tourists from visiting Ghana this
December. Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on December 17, 2025, KOD stressed that the increase in HIV cases is not unique to Ghana and should be tackled through education rather than fear-mongering. He noted that renewed conversations around HIV/AIDS followed World AIDS Day on
December 1, adding that the Ghana AIDS Commission needs stronger visibility to effectively promote public awareness. According to KOD, Ghana remains safe, vibrant, and welcoming for visitors during the festive season.
