Dr. Elvis Botah clarified the significance of the Danquah-Dombo-Busia (DDB) lineage within the NPP, stressing that the tradition represents ideology rather than ethnic exclusivity.
The political analyst noted that many critics misunderstand the symbolism, interpreting it as limiting leadership opportunities to specific groups.
“The categorisation of the Danquah-Dombo-Busia tradition is not to say that we are limiting it to certain tribes. It is about leadership and organisational history,” he said on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, monitored by Lovinghananews.com.
Dr. Botah explained that the names Dumbo and Busia symbolise historical movements, public negotiations, and rural development philosophies that shaped Ghana’s political landscape.
“The ideology goes beyond politics. It embodies principles of nation building, rural development, and integrity,” he noted.
He acknowledged that opponents could exploit the symbolism for propaganda but emphasised the party’s inclusivity and its focus on strategic growth.
“History has proven that the NPP is the fastest-growing political party in this country. Propaganda may exist, but it does not undermine the broader mission,” he added.
