Vice-President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has called on Ghanaian students studying abroad to remain connected to their roots and contribute to the nation’s progress.
Addressing members of the Ghanaian Association in Iowa at Drake University, the Vice-President encouraged students to “appreciate the solid foundation provided by Ghana’s educational system,” describing it as one that continues to prepare young people for global excellence.
Joined by the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, and Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Victor Smith, she met with Ghanaians from Iowa and neighboring states, using the platform to discuss the government’s vision for inclusive development.
She conveyed warm greetings from President John Dramani Mahama and emphasized the importance of Pan-African solidarity, stating that “Ghana’s progress is intertwined with that of her neighboring countries.”
Professor Opoku-Agyemang reminded the students that Ghana remains their home and urged them to give back through knowledge, innovation, and service. “Every Ghanaian, regardless of circumstance, has something valuable to contribute to national development,” she said.
