The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources who doubles as caretaker Minister for Environment, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah has served warning to illegal miners that he is coming after them.

In 72hours after this announcement training has commenced for thousands of security personnel to be trained before deployment to over 44 to 50 flashpoints of illegal mining across the country.

These men will be stationed at the flashpoints permanently on rotation basis constantly to avoid any familiarities. As part of their training, all stakeholders such as the Forestry Commission, Minerals Commission, Lands Commission, etc, will take turns to brief the men.

This is being done under the auspices of the NAIMOS as part of an addition to planned strategies lined up to combat Galamsey.

President Mahama has on countless occasions emphasized his position of not being against responsible small scales mining but rather frowns strongly on illegal and irresponsible small scales mining on our waters owing bodies and in forest reserves.

It is in this light that his Minister, Hon Armah-Kofi Buah kicked in motion a letter to the Attorney General for a repeal of the LI 2462 as an additional step to buttress the president’s directive not to issue any new mining license since assuming office in January 07, 2025.

Minister Buah and his Deputy have shown commitment to fighting the Galamsey and have other plans to be rolled out in subsequent days concurrently to combat the Galamsey menace
