Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has strongly responded to the opposition NPP for downplaying the economic progress made under his leadership.
Speaking on TV3 on November 14, 2025, he questioned why his predecessor, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, is criticising the government’s performance when he achieved less during his own tenure.
Dr. Ato Forson noted that both he and Dr. Amin Adam served almost the same number of months at the Finance Ministry.
Yet, the economic results under the current administration are far better.
He argued that if the NPP had the solutions they now claim to have, they would have implemented them when they were in power.
He further accused the NPP of causing the economic challenges the Mahama government inherited, stressing that the current recovery required sacrifice, discipline, and strong coordination across key economic sectors.
According to him, the visible improvement in the economy is the result of prudent policies and the unwavering support of President John Dramani Mahama.
He revealed that the President’s backing has given him the political will to introduce bold fiscal reforms, reforms he says are now delivering positive results.
