A 60-year-old woman, identified as Comfort Baidoo, has been run over and crushed to death by an unregistered Honda Civic in a tragic accident at Shama Junction.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim was returning from a visit to her sister when the speeding Honda Civic, travelling from Daboase towards Inchaban and reportedly transporting blood for a sick patient, attempted to avoid heavy traffic by switching lanes.
In the process, the driver collided with a taxi from Shama, lost control of the vehicle, and veered onto the pedestrian walkway.
The car drove into the deceased, dragging her into a nearby kenkey-selling joint.
Witnesses said her left leg was severely crushed as she became trapped under the vehicle.
They managed to lift the car and rush her to the VRA Hospital, but she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Police are at the scene and have begun investigations into the incident, towing the unregistered vehicle to their premises along with the driver.
