The Corporate Affairs Directorate of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has strongly refuted claims that it spent GH¢9 million on the cultivation of turkey berries, describing the allegation as entirely false and misleading.
In a statement, the Agency’s Corporate Affairs Director, Suadique Musah, clarified that no such farming project was undertaken by the Agency.
According to him, what existed was only a proposed training programme aimed at equipping young people with skills in turkey berry production and value addition.
He emphasized that the initiative was designed as a capacity-building intervention, not a farming project to be executed by YEA.
Mr. Musah further explained that while a commitment authorization had been secured for the programme, it did not constitute actual spending.
He noted that such authorization merely represents approval in principle and does not translate into financial disbursement.
He stressed that the programme was never implemented, adding that no contracts were awarded and no payments were made.
The clarification comes amid public discussions and scrutiny over alleged expenditures by the Agency, with YEA urging the public to disregard the claims and rely on verified information.
