A La District Court has ordered 27 women to be remanded into police custody for two weeks following allegations that they were engaged in prostitution.
The women, whose identities have not been publicly disclosed, are accused of offering sexual services for money.
They are expected to reappear before the court on April 2, 2026, as investigations into the matter continue.
The case has sparked discussions about the treatment of women involved in such allegations and the legal framework surrounding sex work in Ghana.
For now, the accused remain in custody while authorities build their case.
