Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has announced plans to provide free tertiary education for persons with disabilities and improve funding for special needs schools.
Speaking on November 26, 2025, he said the government aims to use GETFund resources to cover education from basic to tertiary levels, enhance school accessibility, and supply modern assistive devices.
Iddrisu revealed that an annual allocation of GHS 65–100 million is being considered to support learners with disabilities, with proposals also to increase daily student grants to better meet their needs.
