The Bank of Ghana has moved to clarify the treatment of digital earnings after Ghanaian creators on X raised concerns over delayed payouts.
In recent days, several creators took to the platform to complain about missing payments, with some claiming they had not received their last two disbursements despite confirmation that funds had been released.
Amid growing frustration, some users accused the central bank of holding up the funds. However, emerging details suggest the issue may be linked to payment processing and regulatory compliance rather than direct intervention by the Bank of Ghana.
According to available information, payouts processed through Stripe are currently being held as the company, alongside its partner Paystack, works to meet the Bank of Ghana’s licensing requirements for local payment operations.
While Stripe has reportedly confirmed that funds have been released on its end, the payments remain pending as regulatory processes are completed. Some earlier batches have reportedly reached a number of creators, offering partial relief, but delays persist for others.

The central bank also acknowledged the challenges faced by some users and indicated that it is engaging relevant stakeholders to identify and resolve the bottlenecks.
