“Any Pastor who fails to pay church workers is an Armed Robber” – MC Yaa Yeboah Blasts Clergy

Ghanaian media personality MC Yaa Yeboah has delivered a bold critique of pastors who refuse to compensate their church workers, likening them to armed robbers.

Her comments, made during a discussion about mandatory tithing on the show United Showbiz on April 25, 2026, have sparked significant conversation.

Yaa Yeboah emphasized that the biblical idea of tithes was not intended to pad the pockets of church leaders but rather to assist the vulnerable members of the congregation, including widows, orphans, and the elderly.

“Tithes should go towards helping the less privileged in the church and supporting those who serve within it,” she asserted.

She further criticized churches that fail to provide fair pay to their workers, arguing that this undermines the very community they are meant to serve.

“If I attend a church where the pastor claims that those working in the house of the Lord should not expect payment, then that pastor is essentially an armed robber,” she contended.

Yaa Yeboah also condemned the alarming practice of pastors threatening congregants with unanswered prayers if they fail to tithe.

“I have seen a video of a pastor proclaiming that God won’t respond to your prayers unless you pay your tithes. That is pure wickedness,” she declared.

Additionally, she offered her own interpretation of scripture, challenging the belief that tithes must only be given through the church to be considered valid in God’s eyes.

“From my understanding of the Bible, if I save a tenth of my income and use it to support beggars and widows on the street, God will still hear my prayers,” she argued.
