Entertainment analyst Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo has hit back at critics questioning the credibility and processes behind the Ghana Music Awards USA (GMA-USA), following Empress Gifty’s recent win.

In a strongly worded post, Arnold expressed his frustration, noting that for over two years, he consistently explained the modalities and dynamics of the awards scheme on television, including where to access all relevant information.

“I sat on TV for two years, two freaking years, explaining the modalities and dynamics of the GMA-USA. I offered directions on which portal to get all relevant information on the scheme. You didn’t care, so you were not bothered and exhibited no form of concern. That’s ok!” he fumed.

According to Arnold, many ignored his efforts during those years, only to suddenly demand clarity after gospel musician Empress Gifty’s win.

“Empress Gifty wins and all of a sudden, you need me to explain the modalities and blah blah blah. I will explain ony3 k3 osooorimli,” he added, ending his post with laughter emojis.

The comment has since sparked conversations online, with some netizens siding with Arnold’s assertion that Ghanaians often ignore available information until controversies arise. Others, however, argue that the awards scheme itself has credibility questions to answer, irrespective of past explanations.

Empress Gifty’s victory has stirred debate within the entertainment industry, once again placing the spotlight on how music award schemes are managed and perceived by the public
