Private Legal practitioner and anti-corruption activist, Nana Yaw Osei has called for the prompt arrest and prosecution of Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Asutifi North, alleged to have led thugs to attack soldiers of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) in the Ahafo Region.

Mr Osei wants him and his accomplices – including the thugs – prosecuted for their actions.

“The Asutifi North MP’s alleged involvement in an alleged attack on security officers helping to fight galamsey must be investigated & if found culpable, charged and prosecuted, if possible. The MP should be able to name the thugs he allegedly took to secure the release of those arrested for allegedly engaging in illegal mining.

Those who were arrested for engaging in the galamsey should be re-arrested and prosecuted, ” he posited.

Hon Ebenezer Kwaku Addo is alleged to have led the disruption and attack on the soldiers of NAIMOS in Hwidiem on the instructions of his colleague MP for Asutifi South, Hon Collins Dauda.

His actions have been roundly condemned by Ghanaians, with calls for his arrest intensifying.
