Young cocoa farmers across Ghana are expressing growing frustration over delays in receiving payments for cocoa beans they sold several months ago, calling on the government to release funds owed to them. In a press release dated March 12, 2026, the Young Cocoa Farmers Association accused government officials of engaging in what they described as ‘cocoa politics’ while farmers continue to struggle without the payments due them. The Communication Minister, Samuel Nartey George, has revealed that Cabinet has approved a completely new SIM registration exercise following what he described as an extensive review of the previous process.
