Midday traffic at Alajo junction in Accra came to a standstill on Friday following a fatal accident involving a truck and an unidentified man. The incident occurred when a truck with registration number GS 4295-21 reportedly ran over the man with its left rear tyres, killing him on the spot. Ghana is set to boost local food production with the upcoming launch of the Nkoko Nkitinkiti poultry programme in October. The initiative aims to reduce the country’s heavy dependence on imported chicken and strengthen domestic food security. The Nalerigu Circuit Court has sentenced two men to 10 years in prison each for the unlawful possession of restricted drugs in the North East Region. The two persons, Mumuni Iddrisu and Alhassan Braimah, were arrested along with four others on September 18, 2025, at Gbintiri near Nalerigu, after police and the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) intercepted 1,195 boxes of tramadol hydrochloride 120mg, popularly called “Red.” Investigations revealed that the two men had concealed 100 boxes of tramadol as well as over 4,500 packs of the restricted drug hidden in 25 five-litre yellow gallons.
