A new survey by Global InfoAnalytics indicates that most Ghanaians believe their standard of living has improved under the new government compared to a year ago, though optimism about the future has slightly weakened. The September 2025 poll shows that 57% of voters say their living standards have improved in the past year. Four people are reportedly in critical condition after a gas explosion early Wednesday morning near the Sanbra Hotel at Adum in Kumasi. The incident happened around 5:50 a.m. on September 24, 2025, while a food vendor and her team were getting ready to start the day’s cooking. Eyewitnesses say they heard a loud explosion and rushed to the area, where they found the victims badly injured. All four were taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for medical care. The Ghana National Fire Service has launched investigations into the cause of the explosion. The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced an across-the-board adjustment of 1.14% in electricity tariffs, effective October 1, 2025. This decision, part of the Commission’s quarterly tariff review mechanism, was made public in a press release dated September 23, 2025. Water tariffs, however, will see no increase, remaining at a 0% increment for the fourth quarter of 2025.
