A couple at Kokrobite in the Ga South Municipality has been arrested for allegedly beating their 13-year-old daughter, Celestine, to death after accusing her of eating her younger brother’s food.
According to reports, Celestine’s father, Issah Mohammed, and her stepmother, Yaa Grace, brutally assaulted her with a cane, shovel, and cutlass.
Witnesses say the couple later locked the girl in a room without food or water, where she died the next day.
Issah, who had divorced Celestine’s biological mother due to past abuse, was already known for his violent behaviour.
Concerned neighbours alerted the police, leading to the arrest of the two suspects.
Relatives of the girl are demanding justice, while the Kokrobite District Police Command has launched investigations.
The body has been taken to the Police Hospital for autopsy.
