Emotional neglect, not poverty, breaks marriages – Counsellor Adofoli advises men

As discussions around Daddy Lumba’s marital controversy continue, counsellor Frank Adem Adofoli has stepped in with a practical take on what often drives marriages to collapse.

According to him, many relationships fail not because of money problems, but due to emotional neglect and infidelity.

Adofoli explained that when some men become financially successful, they tend to forget the sacrifices their wives made during the difficult years.

Instead of showing gratitude, they seek affection elsewhere, leaving their partners feeling unappreciated and unwanted.

“If a wife asks for divorce, it’s often because she feels no longer needed or valued,” he said.

He stressed that self-discipline is critical in sustaining marriages.

Men, he noted, must learn to manage their desires and stay committed.

Without emotional stability and loyalty, financial success alone cannot hold a marriage together. When these values are ignored, love turns into resentment and trust fades.

The counsellor also addressed common misconceptions about women’s contributions in marriage.

He pointed out that while society often undervalues women’s emotional and domestic efforts, property acquired during marriage is shared fairly during divorce.

“Not everything done out of love can be measured in monetary terms,” he clarified in a post sighted by Lovinghananews.com.
