Ghanaian gospel musician Empress Gifty has responded fiercely to critics questioning her recent win as Artiste of the Year at the 2025 Ghana Music Awards USA.
The celebrated singer, who has been at the centre of online mockery and allegations that her award was undeserved, took to Instagram with a fiery prayer against anyone attempting to destroy her reputation.
“This is my prayer: Anyone who has been paid or influenced to insult or tarnish my image without offending you, or whoever plans any evil against me in secret places, should be dealt with by the God of my mother. So shall it be,” she declared.
In another emotional post, she invoked her late mother’s name, stressing that divine justice will prevail over those plotting against her.
“I have called the God of my mother Agaga to deal with anybody who I have not offended, but together with people I don’t know and allow people to insult me for no reason. Agaga, Agaga, Agaga, let your God fight for me now in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Despite the criticism, Empress Gifty stood tall at the Ghana Music Awards USA on August 16, taking home the night’s biggest honour ahead of heavyweight acts including Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, King Promise, KiDi, Fameye, King Paluta, Diana Hamilton, and Joe Mettle.
The “Watch Me” hitmaker insists her victory was legitimate and hard-earned, vowing not to allow detractors to overshadow her moment of triumph
