Intimidation Deepens: National Security Picks Up Blogger Over Chief of Staff Footage

The growing climate of intimidation against media practitioners under the current regime appears far from over, as yet another incident has sent shockwaves through the industry.

In the early hours of November 28, 2025, popular blogger Tina was seized by National Security operatives in what many have described as a dramatic, heavy-handed operation.

According to accounts, Tina was accosted around 2 a.m. while returning home from an event she had been officially engaged to cover. Operatives, who had reportedly been circling her neighbourhood throughout the night, intercepted her in what witnesses likened to a Rambo-style swoop.

Recounting the ordeal to fellow media workers, Tina revealed that she was not permitted to pick up any personal belongings. Instead, she was issued strict instructions to follow the operatives into their vehicle.

Upon arrival at the National Security headquarters, she was made to sit unattended from 3 a.m. until 10 a.m., when interrogations finally commenced.

Her supposed offence, she was told, stemmed from covering the Chief of Staff at the earlier event footage that was later used by the social media platform Ghana Jollof.

Officers questioned her repeatedly about whether she worked for the outlet, insisting she/he (Ghana Jollof) had used disparaging language about the Chief of Staff in a video which had her (Tina’s) logo, an allegation she firmly denied, adding that she had no connection whatsoever to Ghana Jollof.

Tina said she was ultimately cautioned to warn other bloggers and media practitioners that anyone who uses language deemed disrespectful towards government appointees would face similar arrests by National Security.

She was released at about 5 pm on November 28, 2025 by the National Security.

The young blogger says she remains deeply shaken, describing the ordeal as traumatizing and emblematic of a worsening culture of fear directed at those simply performing their professional duties.
