The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources is set to officially launch the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) on Wednesday, 6th August 2025 at Black Park, near the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi. The grand event will begin at 9:00 AM and will have His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, as the Special Guest of Honor. The programme will also feature Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources. rCOMSDEP is part of the government’s broader strategy to promote responsible and sustainable mining practices while empowering individuals in the sector with relevant skills for economic advancement. The programme aims to formalize small-scale mining through cooperatives, improve environmental practices, and enhance the livelihoods of miners and their communities through skills development.
