A tragic incident that occurred at the Takoradi Apollo Traffic area led to the demise of a mechanic who was working on a VIP bus.
According to eyewitnesses at the scene, the deceased mechanic was carrying out repairs on the air system of the bus when the unfortunate incident happened.
He was said to have positioned himself around the wheel area of the vehicle while working underneath it.
Witnesses explained that an unexpected explosion, believed to be linked to the air system, suddenly occurred while the mechanic was still in the process of the repairs.
The explosion caused the bus to shift from its position, slipping and falling on the mechanic, leaving him trapped under it.
People nearby rushed to the scene in an attempt to help, but the mechanic had already sustained fatal injuries by the time assistance arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
