Member of Parliament for Nalerigu/Gambaga, Mumuni Muhammed Nurideen, has called for the GH₵60 million allocated for a new presidential jet to be redirected to support the retooling of the Ghana Police Service, citing urgent needs to strengthen internal security operations.
Speaking on Channel One Newsroom on Friday, December 5, the MP expressed strong support for the government’s plan to retool the Ghana Armed Forces but insisted that the police, responsible for day-to-day internal security, should not be overlooked.
He acknowledged that the acquisition of new helicopters for the military is long overdue, given existing logistical gaps within the Ghana Air Force.
Parliament recently approved a $60 million agreement with Dassault Aviation for a Falcon 6X aircraft for the Air Force, alongside a €125 million deal with Airbus Helicopters SAS for one H160 and three H175 helicopters.
