The National Concerned Small Scale Miners Association, Ghana (NCSSMAG) has moved to dispel what it calls “misinterpretations” surrounding recent voice notes circulating about the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Task Force on small-scale mining.
Speaking through a press statement issued on Thursday, August 28, the Association’s President, Michael Kwadwo Peprah, stressed that their stance on illegal mining has not changed.
“We do not support galamsey,” Peprah said. “The Association has consistently opposed illegal small-scale mining and will continue to support all lawful measures aimed at eradicating the menace.”
He also emphasized NCSSMAG’s backing of the police and other security agencies in their crackdown on illegal operators.
“We fully endorse the ongoing efforts of the IGP and allied task forces to regulate the small-scale mining sector. Their actions are critical to ensuring order, fairness, and sustainability in the industry,” he noted.
ddressing concerns raised by licensed miners caught up in the recent operations, Peprah explained that some legitimate operators had their equipment seized in the process.
“We encourage all affected miners with valid concessions to visit the Association’s office with their documentation for assistance in retrieving their equipment,” he assured.
