Bernard Bediako Baidoo, MP for Akwatia, has warned that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) could remain in opposition for the next 40 years if the current government focuses on long-term development.
Speaking on Starr FM, Baidoo urged his party to use its time in power to build a lasting legacy.
“Let’s develop the nation so that in 30, 40, 50 years, if you are fortunate to come back, you’ll see what we’ve done,” he said.
He also cautioned against complacency in government, noting that healthy competition drives effective governance.
“Without tough competition, there could be laxity, complacency, even laziness,” Baidoo added.
While acknowledging that elections don’t always produce the best leaders, he emphasized they remain the system through which choices are made.
