Should Johnson Asiedu Nketiah step aside? Traditional chief begs him not to contest the NDC flagbearer race

The National Democratic Congress, NDC, Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has been advised by the Krontihene of Akyem Asuom, Nana Boadi Amponim Obo Dade III, to drop any plan of contesting for the party’s 2028 flagbearer position. The Chief says that with the passing of the party’s founder, Asiedu Nketiah has become the “family head” of the NDC, and contesting could create division at a time when unity is needed most.

He believes that instead of aiming for the top seat, Asiedu Nketiah should act as a unifying pillar, mentoring new leaders and keeping the party together as the 2028 elections approach.

The message is clear, a party with deep history needs strong behind-the-scenes leadership now more than a fierce contest for the spotlight. Some people think this call for unity makes sense, do you agree
