Ghanaian AfroDancehall trailblazer Stonebwoy has shed fresh light on how his globally recognized sound was born — and the vision that drives it.
In an interview with BBC 1Xtra, Stonebwoy revealed that AfroDancehall emerged from his passion to blend cultures and promote a “borderless Africa” where music connects people across continents.
According to him, the Caribbean remains an extension of Africa culturally and historically, so merging Afrobeats with Dancehall felt natural.
“Ever since I could sing a word or two, I had a strong conviction to blend Afrobeats and Dancehall. That’s how I came out with AfroDancehall some 12, 13 years ago,” he explained.
He emphasized that his genre is more than sound it’s a message of unity, identity, and the power of African creativity reshaping the world.
