President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, is optimistic that Ghana’s inflation rate will be reduced to a single digit by the close of the year.
According to him, the government is currently re-establishing the macro stability and the growth momentum of the economy.
He noted that hitherto this period, ie 2024, the country’s inflation had skyrocketed to 23%; however, with the coming of his government and their work on the economy, the country’s inflation is now 13.7%.
The President is hopeful that, as better managers of the economy, the country will see single-digit inflation by the close of the year.
Speaking on Ghana’s Inflation rate, he mentioned that “We are re-establishing macro stability and the growth momentum of the economy. Inflation rose to a high of almost 23% in 2024 and is currently down to 13.7% and we expect that by the end of the year, we will hit single digit”.
He added, “As Simon said, we’ve been upgraded from junk status to B- with a stable outlook, and I am certain that in the next review we are going to be upgraded again,” he said while speaking at Ghana Presidential Investment Forum at TICAD-9 in Yokohama, Japan
