Ghanaian musician Captain Planet of defunct group 4X4 has sparked debate online following comments he made in the wake of recent FBI indictments involving some Ghanaian nationals over alleged romance scams.
In a series of posts shared on his X (formerly Twitter) page on December 13, 2025, the artiste claimed that if he were ever involved in fraudulent activities, he would never be suspected because of how discreet he would be online. According to him, excessive social media display is what exposes many people to law enforcement.
“Some of you boys dey slack. Me if I be game boy like nobody go suspect me cuz I no go show u anything on social media for you to track me,” he wrote. He added that enjoying life does not require posting money or flashy lifestyles online, concluding with the proverb: “A fish with its mouth closed never gets caught.”
Captain Planet’s comments have since generated mixed reactions, with many social media users criticising the post for appearing to trivialise cybercrime, while others see it as commentary on social media oversharing.
