Zipline delivered condoms and exam papers instead of drugs – Tony Goodman

The Ministry of Health has accused drone delivery company Zipline of failing to fulfill its core mandate of transporting essential medical supplies across the country.

Speaking on Kessben FM monitored by Lovinghananews.com, Tony Goodman, Head of Health Training Institutions and spokesperson for the Ministry, alleged that the company diverted from its intended purpose.

“Zipline was supposed to be transporting essential medical items like drugs and vaccines to health facilities,” Goodman stated.

“But what did they end up doing? They were rather delivering condoms and even exam papers.”

According to him, the company lacked the necessary logistics and equipment to operate effectively, forcing them to divert into other forms of deliveries outside their original contract.

“They didn’t have the full logistics to function as expected, so they found other things to do. That’s why we’re saying the project did not deliver on its mandate,” he explained.

Goodman further noted that the Health Minister is determined to fix the inefficiencies in the sector, from underperforming projects to challenges facing health trainees.

“There are young people who complete their attachments and then sit at home without jobs.

“Some were not even placed on allowances or being fully employed. These are the issues the Minister wants to address,” he emphasized.

The Ministry, he said, is committed to streamlining health service operations and ensuring that every project and personnel fulfills its purpose to strengthen Ghana’s healthcare delivery system.
