Trump Says It’s “Too Late” for Peace Talks as US-Israel Offensive Against Iran Rages

In a dramatic escalation of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, U.S. President Donald Trump has declared that diplomatic negotiations with Iran are effectively over, saying it is “too late” for talks after Tehran allegedly sought to restart dialogue amid intense military strikes.

According to Trump’s public statements, Iran’s core military capabilities — including its air defense systems, air force, navy, and key leadership — have been destroyed or neutralized by a continuing joint offensive led by the United States and Israel. Despite this, Tehran reportedly expressed a willingness to engage in discussions to end hostilities, a move Trump promptly rejected. “Their air defense, Air Force, Navy, and Leadership are gone. They want to talk. I said, ‘Too Late!’” he wrote in a Truth Social post.

The video report you shared highlights these comments and frames them as a defining moment in what has now become a wider US-Iran war, with Trump asserting that his administration’s strategy has significantly weakened Iran’s capacity to wage military operations.

    Conflict Overview

Joint US-Israeli military strikes have targeted strategic Iranian sites, including military infrastructure and leadership locations, causing heavy losses among Iranian forces.

Tehran has continued to retaliate with ballistic missiles, drones, and asymmetric attacks, including against US and allied positions in the Gulf region. Several Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, have reported interceptions of Iranian attacks.

Diplomacy has faltered, with both sides trading hardened rhetoric and rejecting immediate peace efforts. While some Iranian intelligence operatives reportedly signaled openness to talks through back-channel contacts, officials in Washington remain skeptical of these efforts.

    Regional and Global Impact

The conflict has already reshaped regional security dynamics, threatening the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, elevating military alert levels across the Middle East, and raising fears of broader international involvement.

Trump’s announcement marks a significant shift in tone and strategy, reinforcing that the United States aims to pursue military objectives over diplomacy at this stage. The declaration that talks are “too late” underscores deepening hostilities and diminishing prospects for an immediate ceasefire.
