Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended his condolences to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II following the passing of his elder sister, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the late Asantehemaa.

Speaking at the one-week observation held on August 21, 2025, the former President described his message of sympathy as one rooted in shared kinship with the Oyoko royal family.

“I am an Oyoko, and so I share in His Majesty’s grief. I therefore mourn with the King today on his loss,” Mr. Akufo-Addo said.

In addition to his words of comfort, he made donations of cash, drinks, and water in support of the observance.

The event drew several high-profile dignitaries, including Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Former President John Agyekum Kufuor, Former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, and Former Second Lady Samira Bawumia.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III (1927 – August 7, 2025) served as the 14th Asantehemaa of the Ashanti Kingdom. Born Nana Ama Konadu, she succeeded her mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, in 2017. Her reign was marked by her strong influence within the Asante royal court until her passing at age 98.
