ATO FORSON TAKES COMMANDING LEAD IN NDC RACE – Global InfoAnalytics Poll

Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has staged a dramatic rise to the top of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential race, emerging as the leading contender among general voters, according to new data from Global InfoAnalytics.

The latest “all voters model” shows Dr Forson climbing from third place at 11% in April 2025 to a commanding 25% in April 2026 — a surge that places him firmly ahead of the field.

His ascent contrasts sharply with the fortunes of former Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, who previously led the race with 24% support but has seen a steep decline to 11%, following a period of illness that appears to have significantly impacted her standing.

Johnson Asiedu Nketia has also gained ground, rising from 9% to 20%, moving into second place. Meanwhile, Haruna Iddrisu, who held the second position a year ago with 17%, has largely stagnated, inching up marginally to 18% and now sits in third place.

Trend data reinforces the scale of Dr Forson’s momentum. After peaking at 19% in July 2025, his support dipped to 14% in October before rebounding sharply — reaching 16% in January 2026 and accelerating to 25% by April 2026. This trajectory marks the most significant upward movement among all contenders.

In contrast, Haruna Iddrisu’s support shows a gradual decline, falling from a high of 23% in July 2025 to 18% in early 2026. Asiedu Nketia, however, demonstrates a steady upward trend, benefiting alongside Dr Forson from shifting voter preferences.
