The Ghanaian adventure group Wanderlust Ghana has officially returned to the road, embarking on a renewed overland journey to the 2026 FIFA World Cup after an earlier setback in 2024.
The team has resumed the ambitious expedition with fresh momentum, new logistics, and upgraded vehicles as they aim to reach North America by road in support of Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars.
According to updates shared on their social media platforms, the group is undertaking the trip as part of its “2026 World Cup Edition,” a cross-continental journey that has already drawn significant public interest.

The expedition, which began in Accra, will see the team travel across multiple countries and continents, continuing a tradition of long-distance road adventures that previously earned them national attention.
This time, the group is travelling with three new vehicles, including Foton 48V Hybrid models, signalling a major upgrade in their fleet as they prepare for the demanding journey ahead.
Their previous attempt in 2024 was cut short following challenges encountered in Democratic Republic of the Congo, but the team has now regrouped and returned with what they describe as renewed energy and determination.
Five days into the expedition, one of the team’s vehicles reportedly lost a side mirror after an encounter with a trailer on the road. Despite the setback, the group has moved swiftly to address the issue, confirming that a replacement part has already been ordered from China.
